Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy is a physical condition which is caused by injury to the brain. Cerebral palsy has been known to be linked to birth injuries and is therefore a possible factor in a medical malpractice claim. Characterized by a lack of motor coordination, cerebral palsy may not actually be diagnosed until approximately up to 2 years after the initial injury occurred. Seizures and mental retardation may also be effects of cerebral palsy.
Cerebral palsy may occur when a baby is born too early, as the brain has not fully developed, and significant hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain) during childbirth can cause this condition as well.
