Michael Jackson’s Wrongful Death Waged Against Murray

Joe Jackson, the patriarch of the Jackson clan, has filed a wrongful death charge in Los Angeles Federal court against Dr. Conrad Murray. Murray is being accused of giving mega-pop star Michael Jackson a dose of sedatives so strong that it was lethal.
Murray, of Nevada, is being sued for negligence, secrecy and poor training, as reported by major news sources including CBS News and CNN.
The complaint is for more than $75,000.
The mixture of sedatives Murray injected Jackson with included one that is normally only administered in hospitals: Propofol. Murray had been routinely providing Propofol to Jackson in the bedroom of his Los Angeles mansion.
It is the contention of Joe Jackson that Murray attempted to conceal administering the drug after his son died.
Also named in the suit, for Murray's improper training and supervision, are the medical clinics that Murray runs in both Las Vegas and Huston. The reason the lawsuit is filed in Federal court is because the clinics are not in Nevada, where Murray resides.
Murray's attorney states that he didn't give Jackson anything lethal. Murray pleaded not guilty in February for involuntary manslaughter.
Miranda Sevcik, Murray's spokesperson, is waiting for Murray's attorneys to review the lawsuit before commenting.
Court officials in Nevada have approved a reprieve of efforts to revoke Murray's Nevada medical license.
Murray is accused in the lawsuit of repeatedly lying to paramedics, and other doctors, about giving Jackson Propofol. The hospital records show, per the lawsuit, that Murray told an emergency room doctor that he had only given Jackson Valium and Flomax.
Murray's attorney, in response to the suit claiming that Murray changed his story with police, contends that detectives misinterpreted sections of Murray's statement, and the timeline of the events.
The lawsuit continues by contending that Murray kept inadequate medical records and used his out-of-state clinics to obtain drugs for Jackson.
The damages sought by Joe Jackson are for loss of income and support, emotional distress, pain and suffering. Though the monetary judgment, if any, is unclear due to Murray's insurmountable debts. Murray has unpaid bills and child support, both issues being fought in the courts as well.
Murray's biggest paycheck would have been from Michael Jackson. He had a contract for $150,000 per month as the pop star's personal physician during his comeback tour in London, but it was never signed.
Additional defendants may be added to the complaint that reads, "Mr. Jackson believes there are other parties responsible for Michael Jackson's death, but has not yet gathered sufficient information regarding their potential liability or responsibility."
Joe Jackson has also filed a complaint with the California Medical Board against AEG Live, Michael's concert promoter, alleging that they also had a hand in guiding Murray's treatment of Jackson.
Judge Michael Pastor is delaying the case, until January 4, 2011 to give time for further investigation and to obtain prosecution witnesses. It is expected that prosecutors will address the judge in October to show probable cause to hold the trial.
